A St. Barnabas Contemplative Compline (day’s end service in community) will launch based on input from Forum brainstorming and interest from several parishioners. Combining spiritual reflection, theological inquiry, personal sharing and ancient monastic ritual, we’ll seek a peace point in the rhythm of our weeks. After mindfully gathering ourselves we’ll discuss a text (initially Howard Thurman’s Jesus and the Disinherited) that spiritualizes a problem of our day, share relief in mutual prayer, and culminate with the short Compline liturgy. Like many St. Barnabas programs it will be evolved through its practice by those participating.
Starts: January 10, 2018 6:30–8:00 p.m., at St. Barnabas, and continues every Wednesday evening. Drop-ins welcome!
